A ride without enjoying it is not a ride at Discovery Mundo. On this post, I will explain you with details of how is the experience of a smooth ride from Cancun International Airport to the beautiful and relax center of Tulum, in few words from Cancun to Tulum.

First of all, if you are arriving at Cancun International Airport for the first time you must know that there are 3 international terminals and 2 National terminals. Depending in which terminal you are arriving would be the pickup, but in general, just right outside the terminal for Hotel Shuttles / Transportation Companies you will find your representative holding a sign with the logo of Discovery Mundo and if you book with more than 24 hours in advance, He will also have your name.

Terminal 4 in Cancun International Airport

Arriving at Cancun International Airport can be really excited and a little messy, more if you know you are taking a long trip from Cancun to Tulum. After you pass immigration and baggage claim, the first impression of your vacation (besides the INCREDIBLE view from the window of the airplane) will be maybe a bunch of representatives telling you a lot of things like: “Hey, do you want free vacations for a year?”, it’s kind of funny sometimes…Anyway, after all of that and passing the exit door to the terminal, you will find the representatives area, don’t freak out, be happy you made it!

A good tip: be prepared with your arrival instructions, find out which is the meeting point for your terminal and the representative will be there looking for you in case he doesn’t see you around first.

With so many great restaurants in Cancun, it can be difficult to choose the perfect one. So I decide to make a big list of restaurants in Cancun by category, I hope these suggestions can help to know if you want something romantic, more like mexican, italian, I add my personal recommendations of restaurants in Cancun and more.

My Favorite Restaurants in Cancun

Here are my personal recommendations for you according to my own experience and tastes.

– Porfirio’s – this is my favorite of all mexican restaurants in Cancun, I love the atmosphere, the music, the service and the view, you’ll never get bored here. They play mexican music like Alejandro Fernandez or Luis Miguel, while you are eating every half hour the mariachis start playing one or 2 mexican songs, at afternoon is a very mexican-fancy restaurant and at night is more like a nice bar. The “mazapan or nutela mezcal” are delicious if you like sweets, if you like tacos the “Chamorro al horno” and “Carnitas de Pulpo” are my favorite dishes.

Cancun Airport Transfer

In this article, I’ll tell you my experience of taking a VIP Cancun Airport transfer with Discovery Mundo. I took a flight from Miami at 11 am to Cancun Airport arriving at 1 pm on January 17.

During the flight they offered us a drink, they don’t sell food on the plane to eat, so I recommend you to buy some snacks before the flight. I was so hungry that don’t try to talk to the passengers sitting next to me, but normally I talk a lot! Luckily, this time they were a couple of Brazilians and did not speak Spanish or English, we were communicating in sign language haha.
I was falling asleep, of course! It was Sunday morning and I didn’t sleep the night before because I was talking with my family all night long, so my head was falling every time I try to sleep. I was so embarrassed that I started playing in my cellphone bejeweled blitz for one hour -.- because I didn’t had another game, so my second recommendation in case you are going on a long flight is that you should have more than one game on your phone, a movie downloaded, in case that you can not connect to the wifi (which happened to me) or a book, at least I did maximum score.

Finally, arriving at Cancun Airport, the weather was perfect 25 degrees Celsius. Once I picked up my bag, luckily the police give me a green light so I pass super fast the checking point, yay!! Walking to the exit I found many agencies.

My personal recommendation for this corridor, pass directly to exit without seeing or asking anyone anything, because there is a high possibility that you get distracted with their services. It is better to book everything online and be clear what you have to do at Cancun Airport upon arrival, the driver phone number was at the end of my transfer confirmation.
Another recommendation, don’t change your American dollars to Mexican pesos at the airport, it’s better to go to a exchange house in the center of Cancun, because I realized that the price they give to foreigners, is very low. The day I arrive, the official exchange rate was 17 pesos for 1 US dollar and the exchange at the airport was 14 Mexican pesos per US dollar.

When you are coming out from terminal 3, you will find many people with signs with various names, be patient to find yours don’t go right or left just go straight.

There are many people and everything looks the same color haha, so I recommend that before thinking of walking to the end and get lost haha, stop for a moment to see the signs and find the one with your name.

When I met Aaron (the driver), He greeted me with a smile and then we walk to the car.

While we waited a few minutes, because there were many transfers going out, He gave us a warm towel. The car was super clean, comfortable, loved it!

I recommend you to take the VIP Cancun Airport transfer if you are coming with 2-4 people, if you come with more friends take the private van Cancun Airport Transfer, both are great 😀
On the way Aaron (the driver) was super friendly with us, we talk about what to do in Cancun, the weather, best restaurants in Cancun, how was Christmas eve and other experiences. Very good service, literally we didn’t wait. Everything was great, he brought a cooler with beer, water and diet coke. I notice He had an auxiliary cable =), but my iphone was running out of batery, anyway, the music was great too!

At terminal 3 outside Cancun Airport go to the right to Margaritaville stand, the driver will met you there (prices? example $4 usd for a Gatorade). Don’t worry, you can ask the driver to stop later in St. George house exchange with no extra charge.

At Terminal 2 in Cancun Airport, when you exit the sliding glass doors, look to the right to see all the greeters. Around the corner to the far right is the Meeting Point Cafe, the driver will met you there.

Snorkeling in Puerto Morelos

It all started in August holidays, when my father decided to take us to a magical place, the most spectacular experience snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, is the place most colorful and liveliest I know so far.

When we moved in, we grabbed fins, some viewers each and left in his truck, luckily everything is very close and did not have to wait long. Along the way, I was so excited that my hands were shaking, one of two, was I knew something would change in me as my dad would say or the possibility of seeing a shark that anyway no problem because they are friendly and miniature.

Upon reaching the shore, at about 8 in the morning the view was beautiful, seeing the sun through the emerald waters and gave a feeling of freshness.

We take a boat on the beach near the hotel reef, which took us to the barrier reef. It took us about 5 minutes to arrive, the weather was perfect that day, plenty of sunshine and a spectacular view.

Once we arrived, we got snorkeling equipment; mask, fins and life jacket. A few minutes before snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, “Captain Arthur” gave us some recommendations and rules for the care of the reef when snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, as it is a protected natural area.

All set, we got a jump sea. As I entered I felt the life go out of my eyes, it’s a feeling I will never forget; colors, fish swimming in family and living happy. At that moment I knew I had to devote to this all my life, feel the sunshine on my skin and see the colors in every sunrise.

Something that surprised me was the variety of fish in the reef, from different colors and sizes. As a curiosity for those who will go figure, the depth from the sea entrance to the reef is about one meter to three meters. This reef is the world’s second largest barrier reef.

After swimming for hours with my father in the company of Captain Arthur, I decided to dedicate my life to practice snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, in order to convey all that one day I could experience hundreds of travelers.

Currently, at the end of the day when we returned to Puerto Morelos from each trip, I realize how happy I am to share with travelers and especially families to see them happy and enjoying! Here I share several photos of different experiences of snorkeling in Puerto Morelos during the year.

Probably if you heard of Cancun you must be thinking it’s just party and beach. Well, it is! but you can also find many interesting things to do in Cancun and the best places to visit in Cancun.

– The archaeological sites and Maya culture

– San Miguelito: is located at Cancun Hotel Zone just behind the newest Mayan Museum.

– King: located adjacent to the Hilton Resorts Golf Course, this group of ruins is situated in the lagoon of the Southern Hotel Zone

– The Meco: are located just north of Cancun, on the way to Punta Sam. From the top of its pyramids – the highest archeological structure in the northern peninsula – there is a beautiful view of one of Cancun’s lagoons

– Maya Cancun Museum

The Maya Museum of Cancun is the only space in kilometers around the exhibition destined to Mayan ruins. It is located at Km 16.5 Boulevard Kukulcan. While visiting the museum can give a tour of the vestiges of the archaeological site of San Miguelito, which is next to the museum. This open from 9am to 6pm., To visit the archaeological site suggest you get there early as it gets dark when access is limited.

The museum entrance fee is 57 pesos (approx 4 USD) and entitles you to visit both places. Sunday admission is free for Mexicans with official identification.

– Aquarium Cancun

If desired, once you finish enjoy the beach, you can go to the mall to eat at any of the fast food business.

– Playa Forum: If you want to take a tour through the heart of the nightlife in Cancun, a good place to start is Plaza Forum. You can find restaurants, boutiques, souvenirs and beach accessories. But the best thing around are the best clubs in Cancun, including The City, Coco Bongo, La Vaquita, Sr. Frogs, etc. Sea side there is a club ideal for those backpackers or travelers staying in downtown Cancun and want to spend a day sunbathing and all kinds of drinks and snacks on hand beach.
