    CAO

It is another restaurant which is very famous around Cancun because of the amazing view of Puerto Cancun. Located in the Marina Puerto Cancun, first floor and it has many plates to choose such as mexican food, sea food, burguers and good meat. Most of the restaurants have their own menu in their official website.

    La Pizarra in Puerto Cancun

This year affortunately the new La Pizarra open in Puerto Cancun, it is an italian restaurant located close to the food court of Marina Puerto Cancun. They take care of the people with special requests for food such gluten free options, vegan cheese options, chef recommendations, special plates and good wine selection. Waitors help their clients to choose the best for their table and sometimes they have live music. The other Pizarra is located in Plaza La Isla Cancun.

    Pampas

Finally a Pampas in the Hotel Zone of Cancun, one of the most preferred restaurants for mexicans in Cancun because of the prices and good menu. They have buffet and special coupons and prices for visitors. The new Mr. Pampas is located in Plaza Kukulcan Km 13.5 at the Hotel Zone. They offer brasilian meat, salads and desserts in one buffet.

    La Isla Shopping Mall 2

La Isla Mall opened their second mall which has a new complete environment. It is excellent for travelers who like more nightlife. This new mall is located next to the other Plaza La Isla in Km 12.3. It has a new casino called Macao, new restaurants, souvenir stores, coffee shops, cinema, tequila museum, sky wheel and many stores for shopping from different brands.

There are plenty of new hotels available in Cancun, Riviera Maya and Tulum. Nickelodeon is one of the most famous new hotels that opened this year. You can take a look at their website and it looks like you are in the world of cartoon. Other new hotels are at Costa Mujeres area like Planet Hollywood, Dreams Vista Cancun Golf & Spa Resort and many more. After the pandemia many activities and tours are already available for everyone, specially the parks like Xel-Ha or Xcaret and those are one of the top tours to take when you first visit Cancun.

One important tip to know is that if you come to Cancun airport you need to have already your transportation arrange before your flight.

I recommend to download the official app of Discovery Mundo to book your airport transportation door to door.

    ¡Regards!

  • Get to Know Manzanillo – The Capital of Sail Fishing

Get to Know Manzanillo – The Capital of Sail Fishing

Escrito por Damaris Chavez. Junio 2018. De Manzanillo, Mexico.

Manzanillo is one of the most important commercial ports in Mexico, known as the world capital of sail fishing, and known for sunny climate throughout the year, the charm of Manzanillo undoubtedly revolves around its beautiful beaches.

This is the ideal destination for those looking to relax and enjoy on the seashore.

When it comes to traveling with children to Manzanillo, keep in mind that the beaches are very varied among themselves and not all are recommended for young children. La Boquita, Santiago, and Playa Azul, located in the Bay of Santiago, are the most frequented by families with children due to the calm waters.

On the other hand, there is Las Hadas, which is the quietest beach in the Bay of Manzanillo, since it is in a well-protected cove that allows it to have gentle waves. The access is restricted only allowed to guests of Hotel Las Hadas.

Another entertaining activity when we ask ourselves what to do with children involved in Manzanillo is to visit the “Iguana Refuge Archundia”. Ramón Archundia began rescuing a pair of iguanas and settled in a marshy area where he planted two guamúchil trees, establishing the perfect conditions for them to live and reproduce.

Currently, it takes care of the 550 specimens of iguanas that live in this place. There is no cost at the entrance there is only a voluntary donation as a collaboration to help with maintenance and food for the different species refuged there.

If your family trip to Manzanillo includes people of your same age, the options vary. We recommend visiting several of its beaches since each one has a particular style and a different tourist projection, able to satisfy any need for rest and relaxation.

In the first instance, you can visit La Audiencia, located in the Peninsula de Santiago subdivision. It is a small cove, surrounded by palm trees and with a moderate swell. It is excellent for developing the most popular water sports such as skiing, kayaking, windsurfing and renting jet skis.

Las Brisas is another of the best beaches in Manzanillo. Due to its unique characteristics, especially in the southern area where the slope is less pronounced and more subtle, the waves favor swimming, diving, snorkeling and enjoying the landscape.

Olas Altas, located in the Bay of Santiago, is of moderate waves. It is an ideal beach to sunbathe and enjoy the scenery. Due to the sea becoming deep close to the beach, it is dangerous to swim without taking the proper precautions.

Miramar is the most popular beach for tourists, its waves are soft and the slope is moderate, favorable conditions to enjoy the sun and swimming.

Here, you will find hotels, restaurants, handicrafts market, and you can carry out activities such as horseback riding or water sports of your choice. In addition, the place has its own boardwalk for you to take long walks while watching the sunset.

Finally, San Pedrito is the closest beach to downtown. It is interesting to observe the presence of pelicans that are almost always found at the north end of the beach, where fishermen also arrive in the mornings after their work. On this beach, you can find the facilities to do Sports Fishing of Manzanillo.

And since we talk about fishing, being the capital of sail-fishing, Manzanillo is among the favorite places in the world to practice it. Every year, in November, the International Pez Vela Tournament is held where the best national and foreign competitors come to these waters to give their best.

If you are interested in practicing this sport, we suggest you do it in the “capture and release” mode that consists of releasing the fish after capture to give you the opportunity to continue living and enjoying the coasts of Colima.

The coastal cuisine of Manzanillo depends a lot on fishing in the region. The basis of it is fish and seafood. Ceviche Colimense, prepared with ground beef from sailfish, is one of the most popular dishes in the city.

After a good dinner with typical food of the region, it is best to go for a walk on the Boulevard Miguel de la Madrid, the center of the nightlife of Manzanillo, and where you can listen to live music and dance until dawn.

Throughout your family vacation in Manzanillo, you will undoubtedly visit the Malecón several times, where you can see sculptures by local artists, fishing boats, and the beautiful bay.

Within the beach activity, in addition to choosing between the above, you can visit Ventanas, a viewpoint to the Pacific, perfect to enjoy a sunset and take pictures, or also the Valley of Las Garzas, where you will find pelicans and herons and you can even take a boat ride.

If you are fond of golf, you can’t miss the Manzanillo golf course, where tournaments such as the Las Hadas Cup and the Mexican Aviation Cup are often held.

Some places of interest that we recommend visiting in the framework of a vacation in Manzanillo are the Cathedral of Colima, the Government Palace, the Temple of San Francisco de Almoloyan, the House of Culture and the Museum of Western Cultures.

And as you will undoubtedly want to bring back a memory of your passage through this city, on Mexico Avenue you will find many artisans, from those who work with marine snails to high and low-temperature potters.

Finally, we have some recommendations for you to consider when choosing between family hotels in Manzanillo, especially when it comes to child care:

1). Barceló Karmina Palace Deluxe: the most recommended in recent months among tourists and one of the most luxurious. It has a swimming pool, restaurant, spa, gym, bar and ocean view.

2). Las Hadas: the most famous hotel in Manzanillo, it is located on the beach of the same name, exclusively for hotel guests. It is a very exclusive resort, it has a swimming pool, golf course, ocean view, gym, spa, restaurant and a marina for yachts and boats.

3). City Express is a very modern hotel with a pool and gym.

4). Hotel Dolphin Cove Inn has a pool, restaurant, and ocean view.

We hope this guide will help you leave nothing out of your itineraries for Manzanillo. Our beaches are waiting for you to spend an unforgettable moment. Bon Voyage and please tell us your adventures!

  • Stay Healthy While Traveling to Tulum

Tulum is an unforgettable experience and is a very peaceful place to stay a few days, but if you are planning to stay more than only a few days you can plan your vacations full of physical activities, beautiful landscapes for walking in the mornings.

People in Tulum are super friendly, very welcome to travelers and to local people too. You will find a variety of hippies, vegetarians, solo travelers, group of friends, romantic couples and people from many cultures.

Now before starting your vacations, I’ll recommend you to take a moment to plan your transportation to Tulum, your hotel and how your trip will be since all the guacamole and tequila can go out of the context if you know what I mean…

Fresh mornings are beautiful and very motivated, you can enjoy fresh fruit while you hit the ocean, take some pictures and relax in the sand.

If your plan is to spend more than just a few days in Tulum, a checklist of your favorite things to enjoy every day can be very helpful! Here an example:

    • Wake up with a very good attitude: this will make you mentalize to have a day full of activities and prepares you to have energy all day.
    • Take a morning walk beside the colorful sea of Tulum or practice some Yoga! Click here for 10 min. Yoga for beginners
    • Listen to your favorite songs in Spotify, you can prepare this before your trip and if you have the premium app you can listen to all your favorite songs without having wifi or internet in your phone.
    • Having an idea of your vacation goals can help you to use your time very good, for example, visit a specific place like the wonderful Ruins of Tulum, get to know local people of Tulum or from other countries, snorkel in the beach of Tulum, eat delicious Mexican tacos and many other options!

Make time to get energy for your body

Set an alarm maybe for 3 days of the week and stick to it, just 30 minutes of your time can make you feel so much better. This way you’ll be sure to keep up those exercise habits, feel so much better.

Maintain control over what you eat.
That means bringing your own food to eat while en route, going to the local grocery store, and simply ordering healthy dishes from the menu. When we’re forced to eat at the airport or on the road, our options are typically limited, try to choose food that makes your body feel good.

Your eyes are larger than your stomach.
This is funny but when we arrive at a restaurant in Tulum, everything looks so delicious and we want to try everything on the menu, go day by day, take it easy and enjoy every moment!

    Making choices about food.
Hamburgers and nachos are delicious, but in Tulum, you will find a variety of healthy meals, for example, ceviche or shrimp tacos can make your day, give you enough energy and both had a lot of protein. Remember to add vegetables, fruit, and protein in your food.

Sure you`ll be drinking some beer and eating different types of local appetizers, try to eat in normal portions so at the end of the day you feel good and you tried many delicious meals.

Walk or Bike for transportation around Tulum.
Relaxing your body for two full weeks will take its toll, you can vary from drive to the restaurant down the block to simply walk there or go on the bicycle, is super fun and you will get to know so much better the places around.

    Vacation actively.
When planning your vacation to Tulum, take your health into account. Go for an adventure trip, a snorkel trip, or a bike trip. If you are a beach vacation type of person, you can go running on the beach, swim, or surfing.

  • Weekend getaway to Tulum

    Weekend getaway to Tulum

A trip is always a good way to clear up the mind, and nothing better to choose Tulum for a relaxing weekend. You can choose hundred of articles online of things to do in Tulum and what to do. So I personally made this article so you see my experience “Weekend Getaway to Tulum”. It is always different on each trip and I took advantage to take many shots.

Woke up early in my living town Cancun on a Friday. I did not know what to pack exactly but took everything possible to enjoy the beach, sun, hotel, food and lot more.

Left Cancun at 5 pm and the trip was very interesting. You could see all hotels and resorts of Cancun, Riviera Maya, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and finally Tulum. The trip lasted approximately one hour and a half.

I highly recommend DiscoveryMundo.com to find private and luxurious transportation; if you fancy a vehicle with air conditioning, latest models, with a stop of 5 minutes free in a grocery store and where you can have drinks.

I love traveling, and finally it was night to arrive to the hotel. It was not exactly what I expected.. Like a luxury hotel 4 star in front of the sea. But it was very clean, rustic and well ubicated in the downtown. We had a car and could reach easily where we planned. In front there was many shopping stores, restaurants and passenger trucks traveling outside the hotel. We took advantage of that night to take a ride, there where people all over the city, and many hippies. We then had dinner in a italian restaurant, Pizzeria La Querida, for pizza, beer and wine. In front of us there was a souvenir market. We laughed and talk a lot, then the hippies came to play instruments, looks like they live from that in Tulum. Finally we went to rest to the hotel.

On the next day we went to spend the day at Coco Tulum. Stayed lay in the bed we rent on the seashore for relaxing and ordered some drinks and food. My favorite food is ceviche! I had a long time wanting to get in the sea so I stayed there for a while.

We were practically almost all day in that hotel and at night we spend in the car and stop on the grocery store and enjoy the time left in Tulum.

Where to eat? If you are looking for a place to eat in Tulum had a ride on the main avenue of hotels and restaurants in front of the sea, Carretera Tulum, you will find everything. Best recommendations are:

Chamicos: es un restaurante unfussy and unpretentious daytime beach shack sports plastic lawn furniture and offers up massive plates of cheap, super-fresh, locally caught mariscos, some prepped over a wood-fired grill. After the meal, grab a crisp, icy Corona, and take a siesta in one of the scattered hammocks.

Taqueria Don Beto: is where everyone will say to eat cochinita pibil tacos (this list included), for a more hidden gem that’s just as great, albeit a touch greasier, head down the block to Don Beto. This typical, no-frills taco and torta place is where one will find the local policia ordering cochinita pibil slipped into their vessel of choice by bare-handed ladies who pull the citrus- and spice-laced slow-roasted pork from a metal vat layered with banana leaves. While many do order the cochinita torta, the bread can be quite dry and flavorless, so tacos are really the way to go. Pro tip: If less fatty meat is desired, just ask.

Don Cafeto: One of Tulum’s oldest restaurants, Avenida Tulum stalwart Don Cafeto offers a quintessential Mexican dining experience: large portions of good quesadillas, fajitas, tacos, and other Mexican staples at low prices. But insiders know that the meal to have here is breakfast. Follow the locals’ lead and order the open-air restaurant’s Mayan breakfast, which includes fried eggs over tortillas, topped with cheese, salsa, peas, and ham. Pro tip: Don Cafeto is also near Ki’ Bok, which serves the best coffee in the city.

Taqueria Honorio: Locals will say that Tulum’s best breakfast tacos can be found about a 10-minute drive from the hotel strip at Taquería Honorio, a divey, sort of makeshift place with serious cochinita pibil — a fragrant regional Yucatán pork dish that’s slow cooked with orange, achiote, and other spices like cumin, cinnamon, and allspice. In plain view, cooks throw wads of masa onto flat tops, yielding thick, rustic tacos which they slap with proteins (pork or beef). Keep in mind, though, that this is a breakfast spot, and the day is done at 1:30 p.m.

You can also take advantage if you would like to buy some souvenir in Tulum or typical things of Mexico. Like cups, hammocks, shirts, pants, hats, dream catchers, headbands, fabrics and many more things. Artesanies and mexican clothes are very colorful!

On Saturday Night instead of going out on a bar or discoteque cause we where in family we found a very nice restaurant inside La Luna. Ordered a plate of rice, fish, chicken and wine. The restaurant is very cozy with open windows to enjoy the breeze.

On Sunday morning we packed everything to get back to Cancun, we simply checkout from the hotel and took the car to get back, if you are staying in Cancun take advantage of stopping in Playa del Carmen or Puerto Morelos. We stopped in Playa del Carmen and enjoy all the 5th avenue. The shopping stores had clothes promotion and good brands.
