  • Best things to do in Guanajuato

Best things to do in Guanajuato

Guanajuato is a very cultural destination in Mexico. A beautiful town surrounded by mountains and village houses. If you visit Guanajuato for the first time, you will be enchanted. There are many things to do, I recommend to walk because the town is very small and you can walk around easily. If you are planning a trip and you don’t know the city well, the first thing to do is to find where to stay and how to move from the airport to Guanajuato, Gto. The first time I came I easily find transportation to the town by 2 buses and a taxi, which cost me around 25 USD. But if you are traveling with someone, the best way is to book an airport transfer. You save money, time, travel safe and get pick up from the airport straight to your hotel or home door.

Then get ready to know the city charm and lovely spots of Guanajuato. This are the best things to do in Guanajuato:

Visit the Mummy MuseumI didn’t know they where real until I enter to the museum of Las Momias de Guanajuato. The museum offers history of different mummies from hundred of years ago, each has a story of how they died and you can observe their petrified bodies. From old to very young bodies and incredible, scary stories. There was an old woman who was petrified alive for a disease that gave her for dead but she revive inside the coffin and trying to get out she died with her arms over her head looking desperate and anxious to get out of the grave. I didn’t take a picture of her. Take a look at some of the other ones.

Visit a TheatreThere are many theatres in town! If you like entertainment and art you can go to Teatro Principal, the biggest one from the outside close to La Plaza. They have performances every week and specially on Fridays.

Visit the Alley of the KissFind the street of the Alley of the Kiss. Apparently, two young people lived across the alley from each other and although the girl’s father forbade their relationship, they were in love and continued to see one another. The streets are very close that they could kiss in secret.  The story has a tragic ending, but if you go to this alleyways and stand on the red step and kiss your significant other, you’ll have 7 years of happiness.

Go shoppingThe streets have many shopping locals. You can find every kind of handicrafts for presents to your loved ones, candies and clothe stores. They don’t have a normal shopping stores that you see in any mall, but typical artifacts from the town! The most important market is Mercado Hidalgo, vendors set here to sell everything from fresh fruits to cheese and meat.

ChurchesThere are numerous churches and cathedrals in and around the city center. The vibrant yellow Basilica de Guanajuato dominates the main plaza, while the San Cayetano is located out near the mines. The Templo de la Compañía is considered one of finest examples of baroque style in Latin America.

    Taste the food

    Soy Meat Burguer

The food in Guanajuato is delicious and it has very affordable prices, except for the coffee. You can find many local restaurants in every street. From chinesse to mexican and healthy restaurants. If you are a coffee lover you are going to find many coffee shops. In the main Plaza close to the Cathedral, you can find a coffee shop that offers different flavors of coffee: vainilla, mocha, mint, caramel, etc. If you want to located it just look for the wood walls and door!

Visit the librariesGuanajuato has many cute libraries around with shelters. If you want to relax you can read for free, they offer many books from different subjects, I discover that’s what people like to do here, read and relax, mostly students. You can also bring your computer! Don’t forget 50 pesos for a beverage.

  • Planning A Sober Vacation When You’re On A Budget

Planning A Sober Vacation When You’re On A Budget

    Photo via Pixabay by Gellinger

Planning a vacation can be difficult, especially if you have family members and kids who will be coming with you. All the preparations, packing, and actual travelling can take a toll, but when you’re also in recovery at the same time, it can be overwhelming. Sober vacations require a lot more planning, patience, and creative thinking, so it’s important to sit down months beforehand and start working out the details.

When you’re on a budget, it’s imperative to think about the big details first. How will you be travelling? Where will you be staying? Who will be with you and what will they need? How long will your stay be? Work out the major parts of the trip before you start thinking about the small stuff.

Here are a few of the best ways you can plan for a sober vacation.

    Do some research

No matter what part of the world you’ll be travelling to, it’s important to sit down and do some research on the area first. If you’re looking specifically for a sober retreat that will help you work on your recovery, check to see what your options are and whether they will assist you with a payment plan.

If you’re just looking for a getaway with your family, you might want to stay away from all-inclusive resorts and cruises, which hinge on free drinks and food. Hotels usually offer a bar, so it might be in your best interest to book a cabin, condo, or home on AirBnb instead. In fact, the sharing economy is a great way to explore your vacation spot on a budget, as you can take advantage of Lyft services instead of renting a car, and you can even start saving extra cash for the trip now by looking for jobs in that sector. The great thing about the sharing economy is that you can set your own hours and stick to your own neighborhood if you want; dog walking is a wonderful way to earn extra money and stay close to home.

    Fill your days

It’s important to think about what your days will be like on vacation. If you’re planning a trip to California, for instance, you might be faced with lots of vineyards offering tours and samples. For many individuals, vacations revolve around relaxing with food and drinks, so think of the best places you could visit that will keep your mind and body busy. Some of the best–and less expensive options–include national parks and museums. Plan for activities that will allow you to have fun in a healthy way, and try not to have too much downtime. Boredom and stress are two of the biggest factors involved in relapses.

    Try to stay patient

With that said, try to remember that your vacation is about having fun and relaxing a bit. It can be stressful to travel with family, so try to plan for any contingency and keep everyone happy. If you’ll have kids along, pack a bag filled with games, art supplies, e-readers and tablets, and snacks and think of some fun travel games you can play in the car or on the plane.

If you’ll be staying somewhere that has a kitchen area, go grocery shopping when you arrive and stock up on some easy meal and breakfast items; this will not only save you from having to go out to eat–and face the temptation of a bar or extensive drinks menu–it will also save you quite a bit of money.

    Stay in touch

It might be tempting to make this vacation a time to unplug and get away from the pressures of daily life, but it’s important not to lose a connection with your sponsor or support group. Let them know where you’ll be and make plans to have someone ready to take your call should you need to talk.

It takes a lot of time and effort to plan a vacation, especially when you are preparing for a lengthy trip to an unfamiliar destination. Stress and anxiety can make it harder to stay sober, so do your best to cut those from the equation and have a good time.

  • Things to do in Cancun this Summer 2017

Things to do in Cancun this Summer 2017

Most of the year Cancun weather is sunny with high temperatures, specially from June to September. That is ideal for enjoying the stunning beaches and aquatic parks of Cancun. But also there are many other things to do in Cancun for summer.

Cancun brings together gorgeous natural settings with first class accommodations and the archaeological Mayan sites that rich our culture. Here I’ll show you a list of things to do in Cancun this Summer 2017:

    Swim with Whale sharks

This stunning animals come to Cancun on the first days of June. There is a specific area where you can swim with this creatures and you have to take a boat to get there. You can also find some stingrays and turtles swimming around. The Whaleshark tour takes you to this area where you will enjoy the snorkeling with this animals for 3 hours and visit Isla Mujeres for lunch.Visit the stunning beaches

Cancun has the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and Mexico. The turquoise colors are amazing and you can enjoy many activities at the beach: volleyball, kayak, snorkeling, scuba diving, kite surf and more. Best beaches are: Forum, Delfines and Marlin. Also if you head to Isla Mujeres or Cozumel by ferry, you will be enchanted.Chichen Itza

It’s important to visit Chichen Itza if you come to Cancun for the first time. One of the world wonders that is full of misteries and culture. The Mayans used to predict the natural events with their intelligence and creations at the archaeological site. Every Tuesday, Chichen Itza features a 3D mapping projection, dramatic lighting and amazing images! Check out Chichen Itza Light & Sound.Visit Tulum

Tulum is a beautiful town 2 hours from Cancun. It has beautiful beaches and the only archaeological mayan site in the seashore. Tulum Beach is the perfect option for those wishing to visit the famous ruins of the ancient Mayan culture and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches of the Mexican Caribbean at the hotel zone of Tulum, to relax and swim in the turquoise blue Caribbean ocean. Enjoy the nightlife

In the km 10 of the hotel zone of Cancun is the nighlife zone, full of great bars and discos. My recommendation is to visit Mandala Beach at the day or Coco bongo. Coco Bongo is probably the most popular nightclub for Cancun tourists to visit and has been established for many years. The shows are amazing and have to be seen at least once. There is a special package for Coco Bongo here. Visit Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is a beautiful island of nature, resort hotels, snorkeling and scuba diving coral reefs. Is located 30 min from Cancun. You must get there by a boat or ferry. You can get your ROUNDTRIP ferry tickets here.

  • Discover Southern Italy

    Discover Southern Italy

Southern Italy offers an historical and artistic nation. This important region called “midday” or The Mezzogiorno has the oldest cities in Italy and important sites that once were part of Ancient Greece.

An unashamed resort, Sorrento is nonetheless a civilized and beautiful town. Even the souvenirs are a cut above the norm, with plenty of fine old shops selling the ceramics, lacework and intarsio (marquetry items) that are famously produced here. The main drawback is the lack of a proper beach: the town straddles the cliffs overlooking the water to Naples and Mt Vesuvius.

    Sorrento

Capri is located in the Bay of Naples, this island is full of history. It has a magical charm for its natural wonders. It has amazing landscapes inspirational for poets, lovers and travelers since time ago.

    Travel guide to Hong Kong

People who live in this thrilling city will say a New York minute is a Hong Kong second, if you are visiting this giant city it will not be hard to see why! Hong Kong is full of energy. Your travel list will be huge with shopping, sightseeing, restaurants, bars, landmarks and skylines that must be photographed. You will see thousands of markets at streets to explore and get lost in, also boats and ferries to ride. To do everything or almost, will be a challenge but first of all, there are some things to do you can’t miss. Whether you are visiting Hong Kong for the first time or the 20th, here are 10 things you can’t miss in Hong Kong.

    Hike the Dragon’s Back

Hong Kong is the city of shopping malls and skyscrapers, but there are also many options for hiking. The Hong Kong most popular portion for hike trail is the Dragon’s Back. At the top of the hike you can see all around: beaches, bays, verdant countryside, waterfront communities and the South China Sea! The shortest version of this hike can be completed in less than two hours, though you could extend it to six hours if you want to start from Happy Valley and make your way south.

    Relax in the Park

Hong Kongers love getaways to the beaches, islands and the countryside. But also there are green spaces to enjoy in the city. There are rock gardens and green areas where hong kongers enjoy their tai chi or just read.Victoria Park is the largest green space on Hong Kong Island and it has some recreational spaces to practice soccer, basketball, swimming, lawn bowling or tennis. They say the prettiest is Nan Lian Garden, 35,000 square meter with Tang Dynasty style. The parks are very easily for via transportation.

    Go the beach

Less than an hour from the city center, you’ll find some of the world’s most gorgeous beaches, which can be reached by taxi, boat, or public transportation. Unlike many beach destinations, Hong Kong is home to many different types of beaches, so there really is something for everyone, from surfers to families to party animals.

Shek O is undoubtedly one of the most popular options, along with stretches of sand in Stanley and surrounding Repulse Bay. For a more secluded experience, head to pristine Tai Long Wan on the eastern coast of Sai Kung Peninsula, considered to be one of the most beautiful places in all of Hong Kong.

Have Breakfast at a dai pai dong

The dai pai dong restaurants has almost dissapeared today, with only a few remaining. This are good cheap meals in Hong Kong. Given that the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department is not renewing any dai pai dong licenses, it’s a decline that seems destined to continue. You can eat at a dai pai dong for any meal, but the best dishes are typically served for breakfast. The best dai pai dong locals are: Sing Kee, Sing Heung Yuen and Leaf Dessert.

    Escape in a Junk Boat

This is a very popular activity for locals by renting a “junk”, term used to apply to Chinese fishing boats which now refers to a water vessel for leisure. But any visitor can also be part of this tradition.

    © Our Global Trek

These rides takes about 7 hours with food and open bar. If you are staying in a hotel you can consult for the best rates.

    Visit the street markets

In Hong Kong’s lively street markets, there is anything you could ever want to buy! Ladies Market is home to more than 100 stalls of clothes and accessories and the Temple Street Night Market has infinite watches and noodles. If you head to Cat Street, you will find antiques, Apliu for electronics and great sneakers at Fa Yuen Street. There are other markets dedicated for flowers, goldfish, birds, jade, kitchenware and more.

    Visit the Historic Temples

Appart from how fast it has become modern, Hong Kong is home to historic religious sites. Man Mo Temple is the oldest in the city, it is dedicated to the Taoist gods of literature and war.

    © The Culture Trip

Also the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is where 500 life-size golden Buddhas sit on either side of the 400 steps you climb to reach the temple. Inside the main temple, there are nearly 13,000 gilded ceramic statuettes, even more than the temple’s name promises.

The Wong Tai Sin Temple is the most popular in Hong Kong and it has plenty to see with 18,000 square meters dedicated to the three major religions in China: Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism.

Get to know the art scene

If you have hear about Hong Kong reputation, it’s said that everything is commerce and not culture at all. But today the city hosts an Art Basel show every year at spring. You can also find art in the elements of the hotels and restaurants. There are some galleries of local artists where they set up in areas like Chai Wan, Sai Ying Pun or Aberdeen. If you are looking for historical Chinese works, go to the Hong Kong Museum of Art that has more than 15000 objects.
